DOST-TUPV Hive launched in Bacolod
The Hub for Innovation and Value Engineering (Hive) of the Department of Science and Technology-Technological University of the Philippines-Visayas was launched at the Antonio Chan Memorial Technical Training Center in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City Thursday. The launch signaled the full operation of the technology business incubator and the beginning of the incubation program of the first batch of startups, a press release from TUPV said. The event was graced by Russel Pili, the chief of Research Information and Technology Transfer Division of the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development, that is the funding agency of the DOST-TUPV Hive. She highlighted the importance of empowering technology business incubators (TBIs) “as they will serve as stewards towards the goal of reaching 1,000 startups in the coming years.” This will allow the generation of employment, raise both public and private investments, and inspire future innovators and technopreneurs to pursue their ideas, the press release said.

THE Technological University of the Philippines Visayas was selected by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as a partner institution to establish a Technology Business Incubator (TBI) in the province of Negros Occidental. The facility will operate at the Antonio Chan Memorial Technical Training Center located in Marapara, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City. The program officially started on May 1, 2019 and applications for entrance into the incubation program is already open to would-be startups. From the original 45 universities across the country that applied, only the top twenty were selected by the panel of experts from DOST. TUPV received a 10 Million peso grant for the establishment and operation of the TBI facility. |
